We have detected an increase in the rate of FTP exploit attempts for cPanel hosting accounts on our servers. We have, therefore, updated the FTP configuration for all cPanel servers. Please note following changes:

  • TLS Encryption is now required for ALL FTP connections on cPanel servers. (P/s: If you are using an FTP client, you would need to connect via SFTP on Port 22)

  • Anonymous logins have been disabled for all cPanel servers.

  • Maximum number of FTP connections per IP address has been changed to 5.

  • The maximum amount of time an FTP connection may spend idle before it is disconnected by the server has been changed to 10 minutes.
